It should have no adverse affects to your saltwater tank. However, it may cause a temporary disruption to the natural cycles at work in your freshwater tank. Depending on the size of your tank and the coral you add, it can cause the levels of ammonia and TDS in your water to rise. It will also make your water more alkaline, which can cause problems for your fish and plants. These affects won’t last forever and your levels will even out as the water cycles. It’s best to add the coral when first setting up your tank and letting it cycle for a few weeks before adding any plants or livestock.
